Guidelines for Submissions
Length: Weekly BLOGs/VLOGs: 1-5 minutes; Quarterly Interviews or panel discussions: 10 - 60 minutes
Bilingual Publishing: We have a wide audience, some who know sign language and some who do not. Submissions are accepted in English only and any videos in sign language, should have a transcript or captions in English. If this is something you are unable to do, you can request this by sending an email to [email protected]
Good lighting: Bright or natural light is best and please avoid back lighting or sources of light behind you.
Camera angles: Keep the camera level with your body, so your audience is not looking up or down at you.
Steady Camera: Have your camera/phone/laptop in a steady location to avoid shaky footage.
Eye Contact: Look into the camera and not yourself on the screen. This will help you connect with your audience.
Background: Your background preferably should be solid, plain, and free of clutter.
Framing: Record your video with landscape framing, and not portrait. We need to be able to see your signing space.
Audio: If recording in sign language, monitor the audio to ensure there is no background noise or turn off the mic.
Clothing: Preferably, clothing should be solid and contrasting colors.
File transfer: Dropbox or Google Drive is preferred. Currently, we are checking into YouTube links as an option.
